Cycling homewards

Subtitle: A Day. A picture. A song. (29)

If I had to point out one thing missing this year it only be that: cycling trips.

Even if I just started four years ago when I set myself the goal to cycle 1000 kilometres in 10 days. From Wismar through the Lüneburger Heide and Bremen down the Weser all the way to Minden. After that, continuing through the Harz region, visiting the Bauhaus in Dessau, and traveling via Wittenberge back home to Berlin.

So many ups and downs, a rollercoaster ride between bliss and exhaustion, closely intertwined with pain. But after 10 days and almost exactly 1000km I took this picture with a great deal of pride in myself. Every year, for a couple of days, I tride to ride on bike away from and back home. A journey home with exhaustion and a clear mind of what’s important to me, mostly deceleration. A brief escape from the world of turbo-capitalism, with its flood of images and news—in the media and in our inboxes.

Thank god that’s now most of the days. Nevertheless, the experience of physical limits is sometimes missing this year. I’ll guess there’ll be coming lot of opportunities the next years, now settled in with a home in norway.

(PS: some more pictures from that trip are on snapshots on bike)
